Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward John Mitchell from the Maple Leafs in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Mitchell will report to the Connecticut Whale (AHL).
Mitchell, 26, has registered 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points in 159 career regular season contests in three seasons with the Maple Leafs.

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Dan Ellis from the Lightning in exchange for goaltender Curtis McElhinney.

Ellis, 30, has appeared in 142 career NHL games with Tampa Bay, Nashville and Dallas, going 63-49-14 with a 2.71 goals-against average (GAA), .907 save percentage (SV%), and 12 shutouts.
McElhinney, 27, posted a 6-9-1 record with two shutouts, a 3.43 GAA and .890 SV% in 21 appearances for Anaheim this season. A native of Calgary Alberta, McElhinney set career highs in wins, shutouts and appearances in 2010-11.
Johnson, McClement Headed To Avs
The Avalanche announced tonight that the team has acquired defenseman Erik Johnson, forward Jay McClement and a first-round pick in either the 2011 or 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Blues. In return, the Avalanche gave up the services of defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, forward Chris Stewart and a second-round selection in either 2011 or 2012.

Johnson was the first overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 55 games for the Blues this season, tallying five goals and 14 assists. has gone on to collect 91 points in 203 career NHL games.
McClement has collected 16 points while appearing in all 56 games for the Blues this season. St. Louis? first pick (second round, 57th overall) in the 2001 Entry Draft, McClement has spent his entire career with the Blues, tallying 156 points in 449 NHL games.
